S-1 Corporation on Wednesday announced that its school-specific artificial intelligence (AI) solution to help prevent school violence and safety incidents is gaining traction as the first day of school draws closer.

The company’s school-specific AI solution is a comprehensive product that combines intelligent Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) with a facial recognition system. The intelligent surveillance camera system provides an automatic detection feature that identifies instances of school violence via real-time video analysis algorithms.

S-1 has emphasized that the school violence algorithm, powered by deep learning, can accurately distinguish between typical campus activities and violent situations by learning various behavioral patterns. The solution also applies specialized algorithms to promptly detect attempts to disable the camera, such as covering it with hands or objects, which will trigger an instant alert.

The intelligent CCTV system also serves safety accident prevention functions such as detecting unauthorized entry into restricted areas and identifying fires. This is made possible by real-time video analysis algorithms that promptly detect abnormal situations like the occurrence of fire, smoke, or entry into hazardous zones.

The facial recognition reader, another component of the solution, provides unauthorized intrusion control via AI facial recognition algorithms. When installed at various entry points on campus, the reader restricts access for individuals not registered in the system. S-1 has reduced the recognition time from 1 second to 0.6 seconds and expanded the access management capacity to accommodate up to 50,000 individuals.

The company’s sales for the intelligent CCTV and facial recognition readers increased by 52 percent and 30 percent respectively in 2023 compared to the previous year.
