Police officials make statement on death of Ms. Dhu

epa05677786 West Australia Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan makes an address to the media pertaining to the death of Ms. Dhu in police custody in Perth, Australia, 16 December 2016. O'Callaghan stated that the police failed in their care of an Aboriginal woman after a report released today from the state coroner found that 22-year-old Ms. Dhu was treated inhumanely during her incarceration. Ms. Dhu died in police custody after being arrested and incarcerated for unpaid fines in August 2014. Ms. Dhu's first name is being withheld from public record for cultural reasons.
