하지원이 자신이 주연을 맡은 KBS 드라마 '황진이'의 방송을 맞아 대만을 방문했다. AP가 이 소식을 대만발로 자세히 다뤄 눈길을 끈다.

이에 따르면, 16일 타이페이에서 열린 행사에 금색 미니스커트 차림으로 등장한 하지원(사진)은 "황진이는 많은 여성 시청자에게 뜨거운 사랑을 받았던 드라마"라며 "지성과 미모를 겸비한 황진이 역할을 맡아 기뻤다"고 전했다.

AP는 '황진이'에 대해 "16세기 한국의 유명한 기생의 삶을 그린 드라마"라면서 "엄격한 계급사회였던 전근대 한국에서 기생은 지위는 낮았으나 단순히 미의 대상이 아니라 남성 사회에 참여할 수 있는 특권을 가진 존재였다"고 설명했다.

하지원은 이어 "황진이를 존경하고 그의 재능과 능력이 부럽다"면서 "남성 중심적인 사회에서 자기 주장을 갖기 바라는 한국 여성들은 황진이에게서 그 본보기를 찾는다"고 말했다.

They were rather the privileged ones who could participate in the men's society."

To make an extension, Ha Ji Won remarked "I respect Hwang Jin Yi. For Korean ladies who want to assert their opinions in this andocentric society, turn to Hwang Jin Yi and seek for answers."
